About Cuban Social House

This concept has been in the works for about 10 years. I grew up in South Florida, where Cuban bakeries are part of everyday life as places you stop in the morning on the way to work, pass on your way to school, and take your time on a Saturday.

As a kid, I remember my Mima cooking in her kitchen while I ran around with my cousins- Ropa Vieja was always my favorite (along with the little sandwiches she had waiting for me after my walk home from school). My Papi made mojo from the sour orange trees in the backyard, and on holidays, a whole pig was roasted outside. While I don’t speak Spanish fluently, it was never hard to understand that the food meant love. It brought the family together and kept them there.

Over time, as our family spread out, the food remained one of the strongest ways I stayed connected to being "part Cuban".

After moving to North Carolina, I found myself going back to the same neighborhood bakery every time I visited South Florida. It was more than the food, it was the familiarity, the pace, and the sense of community that’s so deeply rooted in Cuban culture.

In 2024, I had the opportunity to visit the island and experience the warmth of the people, meet family from San José de las Lajas, and explore nearby cities. It deepened my appreciation for the culture and the perspective it carries. I understand the privilege of that experience and don’t take for granted the opportunities I have here in the United States of America.

Cuban Social House was created to bring that experience to the Triad as a place for good food, comfort, and connection for those who know it, and for those discovering it for the first time.

The Concept

Cuban Social House is a bakery and café by day, and a lounge by night.

Mornings and afternoons are centered around coffee, pastries, and simple, familiar food. In the evening, the space shifts into a lounge with a rum-focused bar, along with a selection of whiskey, beer, and wine,  and specialty snack options.

The space is designed to feel easy to walk into and comfortable to stay in, whether you’re stopping by briefly or settling in for the night.

There is a food truck and mobile kitchen division that will be coming soon to service the Grecade St Corridor where guests can easily order and bring the food inside the cafe.

Catering

Catering is available throughout the Triad for gatherings of all sizes.

The menu focuses on the same core dishes served in the food truck which are designed to travel well, serve easily, and bring people together around the table. Whether it’s a small event or a larger group, everything is prepared in advance to ensure it’s ready when you need it.
